Are you wondering, should you have treatments during pregnancy and what treatments am I allowed to have?

Reflexology and Massage treatments are fabulous during pregnancy.  They help reduce swelling and tension in your body, ease lower back pain, can relax and help your wellbeing and just give you time to yourself in what can be an exciting but also stressful period of your life.  So what treatments can you have and is it safe?

1st Trimester - options are very limited, generally you will not be allowed any body treatments, massage or any invasive treatments that are product heavy.  So no massages or facials in the 1st trimester.  This is not because any of these treatments are unsafe, usually it is because of Insurance limitations.  The risk of miscarriage is sadly much more common in the 1st trimester so Therapists simply aren't covered to provide services.  Because I have done further Maternity Reflexology training I can offer reflexology in 1st trimester in certain cases, but I limit this to clients I am already treating and have to seek permission from my insurance to do so.  But also, most women don't really feel like a treatment in 1st trimester due to fatigue and nausea.

2nd Trimester -  the doors have reopened and you can now have Reflexology, Pregnancy full body massage and back, neck & shoulder massage.  Also seated Indian Head Massage and Facials are back on the menu.  The main considerations are positioning during your treatment so you are comfortable and also that pregnancy safe products are being used.  Also time to think about bump and stretch marks at this time, I do not touch your abdomen at all in my treatments but I can give advice on really good organic products you can use yourself on your bump.

3rd Trimester  - you can continue your massages and facials but reflexology really comes into its own to help you prepare for birth.  I can tailor your reflexology treatments to what you need at this time.  Many women are very uncomfortable on their feet at this stage, reflexology can really reduce the swelling and heaviness in the feet and lower legs.  I can also work at relaxing the pelvic area and lower back to prepare your body for delivery.  Reflexology can also help ease any anxiety many women feel at this time.

4th Trimester/Post Natal -  it can be difficult to find the time once the baby arrives, but if possible it's really beneficial to have a post-natal treatment.  Reflexology can help balance your hormone levels and massage can help ease back ache following delivery.  Also some women just need some 'me' time again to process this huge change in their life.  If you've had a C-Section then remember this is a surgical procedure so you'll need to wait around 6 weeks before you can receive treatment.

A few changes to my t&c's from 01/07/2022

Please note that after having quite a few cancellations during June I have decided to start charging a deposit for new clients.

New clients will now be asked to pay a £10 deposit to secure their booking via a bank transfer or by card using an online secure payment link.  The deposit will be non-refundable should you not attend your appointment.  However, I can transfer the deposit to another appointment should you need to rearrange.

Also from 1 July 2022 the expiry date on gift vouchers will now be 6 months from the date of purchase.

Covid Restrictions - 01/03/2022

Now all legal restrictions have been removed in England there will be an amendment to my Covid policy.

I will be continuing to wear a mask during your appointment for the time being and I will kindly ask you to also wear a mask.  However, I will no longer be enforcing client mask wearing, so if you would prefer to remove your mask during treatment then you may do so.

Please note, because of this relaxation in policy, if you have any cold or flu type symptoms, however mild, please rearrange your appointment for when you are feeling better.  If I get ill I am unable to work and as a self employed person I don't receive any sickness benefits.

For your safety I will be continuing my enhanced cleaning measures, ventilating the room and leaving an appropriate gap between clients.

Thank you for your cooperation. x

Skin Cancer Awareness

Health, Beauty and Hair industry professionals are in a unique position to observe changes that may occur on their client's skin, particularly in areas they may not be able to see themselves.  This can make them a powerful advocate in the fight against skin cancer.

Because of this I have recently completed an online skin surveillance course to help me identify suspicious skin lesions.  I am not able to, or expected to diagnose skin cancer, but to interact with my clients and recommend they see a medical professional to get it checked out.

if you would like more information on skin cancer take a look at or if you are interested in completing the online course for yourself go to

Please note that complementary therapies should not be used in place of conventional medical care.  Always consult a GP or other medical professional for medical attention and advice.
